I've umm and ahhed over the appropriateness of continuing to log nonsense here, given the Russian ownwership of LJ. There is rapidly approaching 22 years of nonsense, and I am loath to abandon it to some kind of digital hinterland. After speaking to the electric company, it seems that the £ amount on the electric bill is accurate.

What wasn't accurate was the billing since about last April, when they were estimating, and my smart meter was, in fact, as dumb as a bag of hammers.

So, it turns out that it's effing cold out there. Also, it transpires that the steps from my front door to the ground, after being snowed on all day, are borderline lethal when covered in ice.

Who knew?

I had a communique (well, an email) from the elastic-trickery people earlier. They don't seem to know why my meter decided to stop showing two rates late November, but as the power costs me the same regardless of when I use it, a single readiing is better for me.

Today I set about replacing the broken fan in the bathroom. After not a little faff to extract the old one, I set about installing the new one. Though it turns out I had bought the wrong sort. So I needed a replacement for the replacement. Toss ( Read more... )

Since my last post, one of the light fittings in the bathroom also blew up. So I rang the manufacturer, and without any kind of qualm or quibble, they sent me a replacement in the post. This is good, as it a) saves me trying to rewire the connector on the end of the mains cable, and b) saves me the £30 on a new one ( Read more... )
